What are the benefits and advantages being a St John’s International School student?

Our St John’s International School has a specializes in four level of ESL classes that are prerequisite to Grade 10 English that fits each student’s English level. This benefits most international students by helping to guide them to succeed in other courses and to help prepare for the regular English 12 level close to their graduating year. Our talented faculty, and dedicated staff members openly help all students with their expertise dealing with international students, to welcome them to build confidence throughout their school year.

Where is our school?

St John’s International School is located close by all public transportation – 2 min walking distance from skytrain and bus stops. The school is also surrounded by many great places to eat for lunch, and also having the hospital, police station, supermarket – all within 5 min. distance; our students find the location very convenient for their needs.

What is the class size?

Average class size is 15- 20 students. Our smaller class sizes promote personalized attention, higher academic achievement, and an environment that supports the well-being of each student.

How many semesters in a year?

Our trimester/ three semester Program starts every January, May and September. It provides students with the opportunity to graduate earlier than in a two semester system.

Does the school provide tutoring service and help with Provincial Exam preparation?

Free tutoring services are available every Saturday for the students who need extra help with their courses, and also help students prepare for the Provincial Exams.

Does the school offer scholarships?

We provide scholarships to our graduate students who have successfully completed all courses that have met scholarship expectations.

How does St John’s International School help students for university applications?

Our school Counsellor will help assist students to help and suggest universities that best suits their interests. Also our bilingual Student Advisors are happy to go over the students requirements for graduation. St. John’s International High School graduates will also be provided with the opportunity to enter at  Canadian Universities.

To which universities did the previous graduates get admitted?

Our previous graduates were admitted to highly-regarded universities in Canada, such as University of Toronto, University of British Columbia, University of Waterloo, Queen’s University and McGill University.

Does the school provide homestay?

Our Student Advisors can assist our partner homestay services that can help students to find a matching place at least 30 working days before the intended first day of stay at the host family.

I have some specific requirements for my homestay. How can I request all of this?

For any specific requirements like the location, etc you must note on the homestay service form, however it is not guaranteed.

Should I pay the homestay application fee and monthly fee to the school or homestay service?

The homestay placement fee, as well as the first month fee should be paid to the school, and thereafter, the monthly fee should be paid to the host family.

I need my home stay immediately. When can you find my host family?

This is up to the homestay service you choose, and not St John’s International School’s responsibility. It takes minimum 30 working days for the homestay service to find your host family.

Is my host family Chinese?

We do not know ahead of time their nationality. If this is one of your specific requirements, it must be noted in your homestay application form.

What kind of specific requirement can I make when looking for homestay service?

You can list as many as you want, however it is not always guaranteed. For example if you prefer bigger bed room, bigger closet, private washroom, strong wifi, or Chinese speaking, or anything along these lines, you must note this memo on the application form.

What are the restrictions or the policy for each homestay service?

You must read all restrictions and policy mentioned on each homestay service form.
